Rated REAL - Love At First Sight? {Guest Post}
Love is such a powerful word though its context is usually misrepresented. Its so hard to give one general symbolic definition for a word that God himself uses to define how he feels towards us. Such beauty, art, and creation all comprised into one simple four letter word, its agape love that compels us . It kind of shows how important the little things are right? But for those who appreciates its meaning, I commend you.
This generation has seemed to shift the focus of love and highlighted small features that are compounded in the word love. One feature being passion. Passion itself cannot stand alone to define love but somehow this generation confuses and mistakes this word for love itself. Passion is not love but a component of it. Passion is an emotional DESIRE towards something. Love is so much more than passion itself. Love is commitment. Love is attachment. Love is sacrifice. Love is blind, but it is also light.
Love is worth living for but more importantly its worth dying for. Love is God......
Love is different for everyone. For some, love is waking up and seeing the person they've been dreaming of laying beside them. For some, love is kissing their son as they fluff their pillow and pull their cover over them. For some, love is being able to wake up in the morning and see the sunrise. But for some, love is the universe itself. Even though all of our experiences with love are different, you would be a fool to deny its presence and relevance. To deny love would mean to deny your own existence. Love is not a word or a verb but a concept which require implementation. I remember an occasion when someone asked me "Do you believe in love at first sight?" I pondered on the question...... My initial reaction was to reply, "of course not that is absurd" but before I could answer the question I had an epiphany.......
Why couldn't it exist? They say there is someone out there for everyone but has anyone thought about how it must feel when you first encounter this person? If its two people destined to be together then during their creation, something must have been placed within their souls to draw them to one another. As they were being designed, a supernatural compound must have been confounded and constructed within their minds. Almost like a time bomb. I can only imagine the feeling the explosion creates when those two people meet and they detonate destiny, its providence! Could this be love at first sight? But what if two people are destined to be but the explosion isn't as explosive as it should have been? What could have deterred this undesirable resistance between the two?
I have one possible explanation; Maybe this idea that during this journey in finding each other, the two people gave pieces of themselves to other people who they were not designed for? Maybe, one of the two fell in love before? What if that person had sex with someone that they were not designed for? Maybe love at first sight doesn't work because some of the dynamite was detonated on the wrong people. People were so sure that they found the one but in actuality it wasn't. So that moment when they finally encounter their real true love, the explosion wasn't robust. Would it be possible to use all your dynamite on all the wrong people and when you finally meet you destined lover, no explosion occurs? Can we miss out on our soul mates because we refuse to be patient and let fate be our cupid? But regardless of my ideology love at first sight, to deny that love at first sight doesn't occur is obscene.
To say this phenomenon doesn't occur is obscure. When a mom holds her child for the first time, is that not love at first sight? Love at first sight occurs, we just don't realize it does. But I love to indulge myself in the seemingly impossible. The human mind, body, and soul is a complex, though deviant, creation. But I will close with this; God is love and he loved us before we loved ourselves. Pure, beautiful, perfect, agape love. Asa Lama Laka and praises to the most high.
